Japanese don't do as much gestues as Westerners do. But we Do have some unique if not strange ones,e.g.,instead of saying excuse me, older males do chopping-veggies-like pose by hand several times with nodding and a slight bow. Long ago, they would say, "ご免なすって" #江戸しぐさ
