. . . but the literal meaning of the word 擦り合わせ (suriawase), 'rubbing things together', conveys not only the idea of working through differences but also how it grinds them down to exhaustion. It is a testament to the unsustainability of their transactional relationship. pic.x.com/bsahir1xdc
