Bankart Procedure This operation involves reattachement and tightening of the torn labrum of the shoulder
The torn edges of the labrum are removed to reveal fresh labrum
A small hole is drilled into the bone to receive the anchor
The anchor is pushed into the drilled hole
Attached to the anchor are four blue sutures which will be used to reattach the labrum to the glenoid
A suture and the guide wire are retrieved through the cannula to be knotted together
The suture is then safely pulled under the labrum by the guide wire
The sutures are knotted to close the Bankart tear
The ends of the sutures are then cut
In time the sutures will dissolve and once again the labrum will be fixed to the rim of the glenoid cavity
