Preparing to remove PPE Removal of PPE should be completed as follows
Removing PPE - Step One To safely remove the gloves, the healthcare worker will: a. grasp the outside of the glove with the opposite gloved hand; peel off b. hold the removed glove in gloved hand
Now, clean hands with alcohol hand gel/rub
Removing PPE - Step Two The gown should be removed slowly and carefully: a. undo the neck tie b. undo the waist tie
Now, clean hands again with alcohol hand gel/rub
Removing PPE - Step Four After leaving the patient room, carefully and slowly remove the FFP3 respirator without touching the front of the respirator, which is CONTAMINATED
Removing PPE - Step Five a. now that all PPE has been removed safely and placed in the clinical waste bin, you can step out of the designated doffing area b. IMMEDIATELY wash your hands with soap and water
