DENIM
Ensure right side of fabric faces out through hole
To create a series of crossed straight stitches across patch, start with horizontal running stitches
Create a decorative running stitch in center of patch, if desired
You'll need: Hand sewing thread and embroidery floss
Choose a piece of scrap fabric larger than your hole by at least a few inches on each side.
Fold under the top edge of your patch and pin in place.
Use a sewing thread the same color as your patch if possible.
Stitch across the top edge of your patch until you are 1/2 from the end.
When you have reached the end of the last side, push your needle halfway through your pant leg fabric, turn the leg inside out, pull the needle through and tic off the thread securely to the inside of your pant leg.
Using your straight edge and crasable fabric marker/pen, start at the center of your patch and draw a perpendicular line (making sure it extends an inch or more on either side of the patch).
Thread your embroidery needle with an arm's length of embroidery floss and tie a knot at the end.
Starting at the top of your center line, bring the needle and thread through your pant leg fabric from the inside to the outside.
Tie a new knot at the end of your thread and begin again on the next drawn line, just as you have done for the last
