First Hour Questions in Comments
4th Anniversary
4 yrs ago, Alex's Zoom on production profoundly changed my life, leading to new partners & work. Kudos to Alex for growing the community to thousands. As I miss today's panel due to these connections, what excites you most about Office Hours' future?
I see a lot of "OG" Office Hours members here that I have not seen in a long time. What have the lot of you been up to? I'm hoping you're busy with work if you are not here helping us learn.
What has been the biggest success for Office Hours as a whole so far? Are there any major individual wins that the panelists would not have had without Office Hours?
who built the amazing cake, and what did you use?
How can we build on the success of the Belfast Method to create more opportunities to learn beyond the daily "OH framework?"
4 years wow. Could we do a week of "best of OH" showcasing all the projects and shows that we have created as a community?
thank you Alex and OH this has been an amazing four years from coming in because I could not figure out zoom with the screen reader to helping guide and host the accessibility hours thank you
Having Alex say "I hadn't seen that. Thanks for posting that" confirmed my contributions were worthy of O.H. What validated you?
What new things might we be celebrating next year on our 5th anniversary show?
I was on day one and I just wanted to thank Alex for creating the community. I have created life long friendships herein except for Fenwick. Happy Birthday. Rocket On Office Hours.
Alex, how would you advise someone who just had a major failed live event, expectations not met, how have you dealt with total or partial failures at events, what are your strategies for bouncing back?
I'm a fully remote cloud software engineer who discovered OH in early 2023 via MacBreak. Thank you all for providing a space where I can ask novice (dumb) production questions to improve my virtual presence. It has truly helped my career.
Can anyone on the panel relate to the fact that friends and family don't understand why you do various projects, such as Office Hours or podcasts that don't generate revenue? Life isn't only about the pursuit of money. How should we justify it?
How can we make people with disabilities and neurodivergence welcome in OH?
Not a question, just a thank you to everyone for fostering a community where something like After Hours can exist.
