William Howard Taft, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, September 15, 1857, was the 27th President of the United States - serving from March 4. 1909 to March 4, 1913
He was appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court by President Harding June 30, 1921 and served until February 3, 1930, when failing health necessitated his resignation
He died at his home on Wyoming Ave., in Washington, March 8, 1930
The body of the ex-president is taken from his home to the Capitol - there to lie in state until the hour of the funeral.
At noon the casket is taken from the Capitol for the funeral service.
On leaving the church the casket is placed in a hearse for the journey across the Potomac.
